​In class, a professor showed a movie of an artist, and all throughout referred to this artist using she, her hers pronouns. At the end he spoke about how he met this artist over the summer and "almost didn't recognize her because of her transition... She's a man now. Or he is" at which point he began laughing. And then said"So she's pretty radical". -- The aggression: 1) the misgendering of the artist he knew was a trans man, and referring to him using she, her, hers pronouns. 2) Using the transition of this trans man as a punch line to a story. 3) Equating one's living according to one's gender identity as a radical act, and not simply the living out of one's truth.
